Discover - How to weave Lauhala style bracelet.
All straw is used damp.
You need:-
● 1 wide straw split and flattened.● 1 straw split for most of it's length into 6 splints, flattened but all splints still attached to main straw● About 16 straw splint of a second colour.
Preparation
● Take the flattened straw and bend it into a circle with a circumference of approximately 22cm. Secure ends with a paper clip or two.● On the opposite side of the circumference attach the split straw, with a couple of paper clips.
Starting the weave
●Continuously wrap a coloured splint around the width of the bracelet in a pattern.● Here I have choosen to pass it over two straws, under two straw and over two.● The second row will be under two straws, over two straws and under two straw.
Weaving
● When the split becomes too short, simply lay another on top of it making sure the ends are concealed, and continue weaving ● The joins in the base straw are hidden by the weaving.● When the circle is complete the end of the working straw splint can be tucked neatly under the weaves and everything can be neatly trimmed.
